contemporary oil painting

European Early interpretations â € "a land without people?

The representation of Africa € ™ s the landscape and its wildlife has an immense history. From cave paintings to Mankind € ™ s oldest continuously practiced art, paintings of oil in modern times is that of research, experiment, and feel his way to new paths in the dynamic global art market. Paint oil paintings of human figures elegant, colorful animals, and architecture that combines subtle tips so calm with this dramatic land, continue to inspire admiration for quality and sophistication.

The art of painting was brought to Africa by white European explorers who chartered their way across the vast territory Africa recording the wildlife and landscapes they discovered. Much of this documentation was the name of science and natural history. Naturalists and artists can represent the needs of the empire builders and governments that have financed their trips. Oil paintings of landscapes of that time often reflects a vision idealized view of the continent, an undiscovered paradise empty and free of its original inhabitants.

A traveler from the early nineteenth century at the Cape of Good Hope, William Burchell, who was a prolific naturalist and an accomplished artist who characterized this school of thought. His oil landscape painting, â € œâ scene the Gariep Rivera was so charming €, â € œIt stifles any discomfort for the Minda €. This beautiful picture shows the type of landscape that Europeans time wanted to imagine the existence in Africa. These idyllic paintings continued into the twentieth century with the work of JH Pierneef, and Everard Group. For most trips European artists, who saw a single piece of Africae € ™ s flora and fauna. At the end of the 19th century and early twentieth century, major European artists Picasso began to study African motifs and techniques. This is now called œAfricanâ € € phase, where Picasso made oil paintings representations from many modern classical aesthetics, and taking his art to a more philosophical and psychological.

Progressive views Landscape – Beyond the colonial era

Attitudes towards black African artists and oil use in the landscape and wildlife paintings is often punitive or criticized, there was a general desire to keep the native artist œtribalâ € â €. Experience one of the first black landscape painters in South Africa John Mohl, demonstrates this:

â € œMohl was approached by an admirer and advised White not to focus on oil paintings of landscape, but for kids figures of his people in poverty and misery. Landscape has been advised, had become the field where Europeans had advanced far in perfecting its painting. In response Mohl challenged this rhetoric and said: â € œBut I am from Africa, and when God made Africa, who also created beautiful landscapes for Africans to admire and paint.â €
Via Mohla € ™ s paintings of landscapes and cityscapes, expressed a clear cultural defiance. In painting landscapes Mohl triumphed Imperial ideals and many Europeans had expectations of Aboriginal artists from Africa. Although this European ideology may have been damaging the development of landscape oil painting in Africa, a common energy policy unites all African artists who choose the landscape and wildlife as the subject of his art. No African artist whom he or she might forget the material, the human side, the majesty and splendor of creation.

At the turn of last century, the image only Africa's population could have been watching the wildlife and beautiful landscapes created by artists.
