Hermann Max Pechstein, Max Pechstein, German expressionist painter and a writer, born December 31, 1881, in Zwickau, Germany. He began his career as an apprentice decorative painter in his native country. The works of Vincent Van Gogh were the key factors for developing Pechstein orientation toward the "expressionism". In 1903, Max enrolled at the Dresden Academy and one years, was a favorite disciple "Professor Otto Gussmann. The artist won the" State of Saxony "by their murals and stained glass and mosaics. In his final year of his graduation, high ceilings painted an altarpiece and several of the 'third exhibition of the Dresden German craftsmanship. Here, he became friends with Erich Heckel, a founder of Die Brücke (The Bridge), Art Group. In 1906, after having obtained the highest honors, Max Pechstein joined art group Die Brücke. It was the only group member with a formal arts training.
Pechstein emigrated to Berlin in 1910. He was elected president of Neue Secession (secession again), who had his first exhibition at Galerie Macht. The artist has received recognition for his vivid paintings and decoration, heavily influenced by the ideas of Van Gogh, Matisse and the Fauves. High art has evolved from "primitive", identified by the thick, black, angular lines. Today who had mastered the art graphics and has shifted its attention to the sculptures of figures and heads. He was one of the most admired "expressionist" and all had a leadership position in the Brücke group. Friends Brücke, artist opened an ephemeral art school in 1911, called Muim Institute (Moderner Unterricht in Malerei, or modern education in the paint). However, Max has been expelled from the group in 1912 after being exposed in the Berlin Secession, have questioned the policy Die Brücke listed together.
In 1914, the artist traveled to the Palau Islands, the Pacific, to explore the natural life, and the subject of his pictures around. In Due to the outbreak of World War I, however, Max had to shorten the duration of their stay in the islands. He then served in the German army to 1917. The postwar high made many woodcuts inspired by their experiences in the Pacific. It has also been designed for books, stained glass and mosaics. Pechstein co-founded with two other arts organizations most active in the Council Arbeitsrat für Kunst (Workers for the Arts) and the November Group.
In 1926, Max has developed a series of "windows" for the International Labor Office in Geneva. The artist has received several awards from various states of Germany, one of them Carnegie Institute in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Max professor at the Berlin Academy for ten years until his dismissal by the Nazis in 1933, followed by subsequent elimination about 326 of its works of art from German museums. It took about twelve years to restore their confidence. He returned to his professorship at the Berlin Academy in 1945, continues for the rest of his life. Print by the artist involved lithographs, etchings, linocuts, and hollow. Max Pechstein breathed his last on June 19 1955.
